The idea and concept of developing the Tunnelling industry in Nigeria was initially conceived in 2009 by a Civil Engineering student on Scholarship in the United Kingdom. He then led the Inauguration of the Tunnelling Association of Nigeria with other founding members in 2015.
The Tunneling Association Nigeria (TAN) was incorporated in 2016, known as the Association of Tunnelling Operators of Nigeria (ATON) registered as CAC/IT/NO 88526.
Tunnelling Association Nigeria maintains a leading role in the promotion of the use of the underground space. We are the Hub for the development of Tunnelling and Underground Space ideologies in NIGERIA
The Tunnelling Association Nigeria is overseen by a Board of Trustees made up of professionals with significant years of experience in their area of expertise which is typically relevant to the delivery of an Underground infrastructure.
The day to day running of the Association is carried out by an Ad-hoc Committee lead by the Chairman.
Other relevant Associations will also have co-opted representations within the Tunnelling Association of Nigeria to serve as a link to foster effective partnership.
There is a paid work force of permanent staff to the Association.
